Good things happen to good people. Great things happen to great people. Case in point: Kerrianne and Matt.

Kerrianne and I have been friends for the last 10 or so years, pretty much since I moved to Denver. A first grade teacher, Kerrianne took the summer of 2007 to travel to Guatemala and volunteer for an amazing organization – Safe Passage/Camino Seguro – to teach children who live near the Guatemala City dump. While in Guatemala, Kerrianne was reacquainted with Matt, whom she had known back when they were both in college in the Carolinas. Matt owns and operates Old Town Outfitters - a mountain biking/hiking/adventure outfitter – in the absolutely stunning town of Antigua, Guatemala. Long story short, it was love. The forever kind. After a seaside engagement at a surf camp on Guatemala’s Pacific coast, Kerrianne left Denver for a new life in Antigua with Matt. We all miss her dearly. But you know that wonderfully peaceful, happy feeling you get when you see your friends deliriously happy? We all have that too.

I was so honored when Kerrianne and Matt asked me to photograph their wedding in Antigua. This isn’t the Caribbean Antigua either… Antigua, Guatemala is famous for its old Spanish architecture and colonial period ruins. It sits underneath three volcanoes at a mile above sea level. It is a place of stunning beauty and kind, friendly people. Kerrianne and Matt’s families and friends gathered there to ring in 2013 with a New Year’s Eve wedding – and it was a celebration none of us will soon forget!
